Etienne Chassaing practices French and EU antitrust and competition law. He has experience in complex litigation before the European courts, from first instance through appeal. Etienne also files mergers before the European Commission and the French Competition Authority and coordinates multijurisdictional analysis of mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures. He acts for clients in investigations conducted by competition authorities in cartels, abuse of dominant position, and State aid matters. In addition, he regularly advises on distribution contracts and consumer protection issues. Etienne advises and represents clients across a broad range of industries, including energy, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, health care, environmental services, research and technology, telecommunications, financial services, and retail. Prior to joining Jones Day, Etienne served as a trainee at the EU General Court, in the chambers of a judge, where he worked on competition and health protection issues. He regularly writes articles regarding French and EU competition law and procedure. He also taught antitrust litigation in the Master contentieux européens at the University of Paris II-Panthéon-Assas.
