Laurent de Muyter


Laurent De Muyter is Partner at Jones Day (Brussels). He is an antitrust and information and communications technology (ICT) lawyer. He concentrates his practice on the intersection of competition law and government regulations in liberalized industries, particularly telecommunications. He also advises clients in other regulated industries such as energy and postal services. Laurent advises fixed, mobile, and wireless local loop operators as well as telecom equipment manufacturers and regulators on various legal issues, including spectrum licensing, numbering, interconnection, access regulation, privacy, and abuse of dominant positions. He also represents telecommunication operators before European and national courts, regulators, and national competition authorities in interconnection disputes, market regulation procedures, and competition law cases. In 2008, he was seconded to the London office of the GSM Association. His antitrust experience also includes merger control and antitrust counseling on cooperation agreements, distribution, and technology licensing at the European and national levels in a breadth of sectors including automotive, chemicals, consumer goods, and pharmaceuticals. Laurent is a member of the Brussels Bar and a research fellow at the Institute of European Legal Studies of the University of Liège. In addition, he regularly publishes articles, and takes part in conferences, on competition and telecommunication law issues.
