Claudio Calcagno specialises in applying microeconomics to competition cases. Since starting to work as a professional economist in 2004, he has held senior roles at leading economic consultancies before founding GMT Economics in 2021. He has advised clients across multiple jurisdictions on matters including abuse of dominance, vertical and horizontal agreements, mergers and joint ventures, market investigations, state aid, regulatory investigations and private litigation. He has worked in a wide range of industries, including digital markets. Claudio Calcagno has published and continues to publish in international peer-reviewed academic journals. Additionally, he coauthored the textbook Exclusionary Practices: The Economics of Monopolisation and Abuse of Dominance (with Chiara Fumagalli and Massimo Motta). Claudio Calcagno is fluent in Italian, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
