Ryan Brunner joined Ropes & Gray in 2017 as an associate in the intellectual property litigation group. Ryan represents clients in a variety of intellectual property matters, including patent, trade secret, and false advertising disputes. His experience includes preparing for and conducting cross examination; pre-suit investigations; drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs; drafting written discovery requests and responses; managing document discovery and conducting meet-and-confers; preparing witnesses for depositions and trial; and preparing for hearings, oral argument, and trial. Ryan has worked on litigation in federal district courts, the Federal Circuit, the International Trade Commission, and international arbitration. In addition to litigation matters, Ryan advises clients on issues including standard-essential patents and licensing. His experience covers a range of technical fields, including semiconductor manufacturing, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, video coding, and telecommunications. Ryan also maintains a pro bono practice in the District of Columbia and various other federal and state jurisdictions. His pro bono experience spans wrongful conviction, civil rights, defamation, immigration, domestic violence, and landlord-tenant matters. Prior to joining Ropes & Gray, Ryan was an intern for the Federal Communications Commission. During law school, Ryan served as an executive editor of the Duke Law Journal and as a senior research editor of the Duke Law & Technology Review; upon graduation he was selected for the Intellectual Property & Technology Law Award by the Duke Law faculty.
