Joel Stiebale is a Professor of Empirical Industrial Economics at the Duesseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) and Heinrich Heine University Duesseldorf, Germany. Previously, he has been employed as an assistant professor at the University of Nottingham, UK and as a researcher at the Rhine-Westphalian Institute for Economic research (RWI). He received his PhD from the University of Bochum in 2010. His research interests include industrial organization and competition policy, economics of innovation, international trade and development economics. In his current research projects, he investigates, among other things, the impact of M&A and public investment incentives on market power and the volume and type of innovative activity.
