Alastair McCulloch


Alastair McCulloch is a U.K. intellectual property lawyer at Jones Day, focused on litigating patents and other IP rights as well as arbitrations on IP-heavy agreements. He works predominantly in the pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, and medical device fields, where he has extensive experience acting for some of the world’s leading companies in high-value IP disputes. Alastair is also experienced in electronics, computer systems, renewable energy, and mechanical engineering. He has a degree in natural sciences (chemistry, physics, and cell biology). Alastair’s patent litigation is frequently multijurisdictional, and he often works closely with his Jones Day colleagues, bringing an integrated approach to U.K. litigation, EPO oppositions, and parallel national litigation. He also litigates trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights, and designs. Alastair is experienced in litigating before the English courts (including the Patents Court, the Court of Appeal, and the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court), the EPO, and in arbitration. He has acted in ICC, ad hoc, and UNCITRAL arbitrations on IP-related agreements.
