David Saive


David Saive is a Research Associate at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Law of the Information Society at the University of Oldenburg. He finished his law studies at the University of Hamburg where he specialized in maritime law. Afterwards he was working for SCHACKOW and Partners, a German law firm famous for their expertise in maritime law, where he learned about the needs of digitization in maritime business. For this reason, he has focused his research on the possible applications of blockchain technology in maritime law. The German Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy is funding his project with a total amount of 1.4 mil. € to find a solution to overcome paperbased sea freight documentation processes by using the blockchain. He also publishes on the topics of blockchain and law and frequently gives talks on the subject. He was a member of the managing board of juraexamen.info for a long time, the leading online magazine for training german lawyers.
