Cartels: Enforcement, Appeals & Damages Actions - Taiwan

The governing law for competition enforcement in Taiwan is the Taiwan Fair Trade Act (“TFTA”). The TFTA was enacted in February 1991, and took effect in 1992. The most recent comprehensive amendments to the TFTA took place in February 2015. The stated purpose of the law is “maintaining trading order, protecting consumers’ interests, ensuring free and fair competition, and promoting economic stability and prosperity”. This article is an overview of law concerning cartels in Taiwan.
