Extension of regulations on audio-visual markets competition

Based on recent market studies and researches, in late 2020, on the online media markets and audio-visual markets, such as VODs, video-sharing and Image-sharing platforms, and audio-sharing platforms, it has revealed that one of the most significant factors that are damaging competition in the Iranian market is various kinds of government aids and rights granting to some companies, mainly state-owned enterprises, based on discrimination. These aids and irrational intervention in such a dynamic market, that has specific attributes such as indirect network effect, give rise to shaping level playing field. In this regard, the Investigations and Interviews with companies and market participants confirm that claim. Accordingly, it had led Satra (the Iranian regulator of online audio-visual markets) to extend its previous regulation in the competition, which is elaborated more extensively in the following paragraphs.
