What are the Antitrust Writing Awards ?

The aim of the Antitrust Writing Awards is to promote competition scholarship and to contribute to competition advocacy.

The 2022 Antitrust Writing Awards contribute to this achievement by selecting the best antitrust writings published in the past year. The Awards consist of :
“Best Articles” : best academic, and business articles written by one or few individual authors.
“Best Soft Law” : best non-enforcement tools written by competition agencies.
“Best Student Papers” : best papers written by current Law & Economics students.

The Jury is composed of leading antitrust enforcers, academics and counsel.

Nominations for the 2022 Antitrust Writing Awards were open from Monday, November 1, 2021 until Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 11:59pm CET (Central European Time).

The Editorial Committee announced accepted nominations on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

Winners will be announced at the Antitrust Writing Awards Ceremony, which will this year take place on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, on the eve of the ABA Antitrust Spring Meeting, in Washington, D.C.

BEST ARTICLES

The "Best Articles" selection aims to reward writing, scholarship, originality, practical relevance and the contribution they make to competition advocacy. "Best Articles" are divided into "Academic Articles" (long articles accepted for publication, published, or released in print or electronic format in academic peer-reviewed journals, chapters of academic books or law & economics reviews…), and "Business Articles" (short articles accepted for publication, published, or released in print or electronic format in professional publications, such as non-peer reviewed journals, briefs, memoranda, blogs...).

BEST SOFT LAWS

The “Best Soft Laws” selection aims to contribute to developing antitrust culture and awareness. Alongside the ICN’s work, it seeks to support international antitrust advocacy by drawing attention towards the most meaningful non-enforcement tools published by competition agencies such as guidelines, market studies, white papers, etc. It aims at singling out some of the most interesting administration practices that could be usefully applied more generally.

BEST STUDENT PAPERS

The "Best Student Papers" selection aims to reward articles written by current Law & Economics students, and thereby recognize the field’s emerging voices.
